A kitchen cabinet for a farmhouse.

Often old Portuguese houses, however beautiful they are, have problems with damp. Especially old kitchens often have poor airflow; thus, especially in the winter, mold can show up inside the cabinets. In houses like that, when it is impossible to rid the damp problem, my advice is to change a little idea of storage. In this example I made this cabinet out of steel and quality plywood with mostly open shelves. Steel doesn't care about the damp (for as long as it's well painted), and the plywood adds warmth, and it's also resistant to high humidity spaces.

I was pleased with the airy look, and I know it behaves well in the winter, just as expected.
