Solving expats' home hussles in Coimbra. Finely.
You can send me a WhatsApp message with a picture(if possible). If you need urgently my help(the broken tap is flooding your neighbour downstairs), call me. I'm fluent in English, I was trained as a fine furniture maker in London and helped people there as a handyman. To save your time (and mine, of course), I'll try to get as much information from you before taking the job as possible. It all depend on the size of the job. Broken socket that needs changing is self explanatory, but if it's a wardrobe to be built, we'll need to discuss more details and you'll receive drawings for a final approval.
Short answer : No. I can help you with most jobs in your home, you don't have to juggle multiple trade people (who probably won't show up on time anyway). However, I'm not allowed to add new circuits, work on main distribution board, move pipes, reroute drainage and do any work with gas.
I hear this so many times: 'the previous guy asked for cash and disappeared.' Fix and Solve is an official company, registered in Coimbra, thus, I provide official invoices, a written fixed-price quote in English (for bigger jobs), for which I'll ask for deposit, yes, but then you'll receive an official proof. As a perk hiring Fix and Solve, you will be able to use the invoices for tax purposes here in Portugal. If you'll want to sell your property in the future you may be able to lower the tax paid from the sale. Once the work is finished and you are happy with it, you’ll then receive an invoice.
I work within the legal limits. If you need work on your gas, electric or plumbing installation that requires moving its parts around, you need a DGEG-certifies professional. While I can't directly help you with that (I'm limited to the regulation DL 96/2017, I know, the European land of regulations), I can help you find the right person.
I was trained in London as a fine furniture maker, and that means that the level of finish and attention to detail is rare in the local market. In fact, custom fabrication is my favourite kind of work. I work with steel (custom welded doors, shelving units, and pinterest-ready partition walls ), and with high quality wood (oak, ash, walnut). (see examples) I used to work for high end clients in their homes in London, thus, I know how important is to leave your home clean, exactly as it was before I entered it. Nobody likes invaders.
